Judy Larson was introduced to the world of art at a very early age - her father was a professional illustrator. This influence coupled with her love of nature and animals - particularly horses and wolves - inspired Judy to devote her time to the practice and study of wildlife art. Armed with the knowledge that there is so much more to see in nature than first meets the eye, she has developed a rather unique talent in her ability to use scratch board as a medium to produce artwork featuring concealed images within the main, larger image.
Scratch board is an old but little used technique requiring infinite patience and skill. Starting with a smooth, thin surface of hardened China clay applied to a board, Judy paints the solid silhouette of the image with black india ink. Then using small blades, she completely scratches out the detail of the image with a series of fine lines, before adding color.
Buffalo Games is pleased to share Judy Larson's love of nature and art with jigsaw puzzle enthusiasts. Once assembled, look closely to see all the beauty and mystery, as seen through the artist's own eyes.
